BHOPAL : After brief dry spell, torrential rains lashed the state capital in the afternoon on Tuesday. The city recorded 5 cm rainfall within 3 hours. Rain activities will continue for the next couple of days as the axis of monsoon trough is passing through Gwalior and Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh.
Trees were uprooted at TT Nagar. However, no casualty was reported while basement of many commercial complexes and low-lying areas were inundated.
As usual prominent roads were waterlogged, posing problems for commuters. Even roads in colonies were waterlogged and school going kids had to reach their homes wading through knee-deep water.
As per the meteorological department, monsoon has become active again and rain activities will continue for the next couple of days.
Rain and thundershower would occur at many places over Hoshangabad, Indore, Rewa divisions and Sheopurkalan, Shivpuri, Neemuch, Katni, Chhindwara districts. Warning has been given for heavy rain at isolated places during next 24 hours over Khargone, Dewas, Khandwa, Betul, Harda, Bhind, Panna, Satna and Rewa districts.
