BHOPAL : The Department of Commerce of BSSS organised an Inter-religious dialogue on Thursday. The programme began with lighting of the lamp and chanting of shlokas by the choir.
In his welcome speech, Principal Fr. Dr Johnney PJ emphasised that tolerance and respect for all religions is the key to growth and development.
Ashok Nema spoke about Hindu religion and gave suggestion to the students that they should pray, meditate and think about their deity whom they worship for fifteen minutes. And another fifteen minutes they should devote for the reading of religious books. He informed that, five major problems faced by the human being are: physical, mental, economic, family and spiritual. He further added if we develop spiritualism among ourselves, then we can easily cope with other problems of our life.
Dr. Yusuf Nadvi informed the gathering that all the religions are basically the same though their rituals are different like all the flowers in a garden are of different colour and fragrance.
But, together they make the garden beautiful. He also informed the students the only way to reach the top in our life is discipline. He said we should try to spread roses on the path of others rather than spreading thorns.
Kuljeet Singh while speaking on Sikhism said that Sikh religion gives importance to the words of wisdom which are collected in Guru Granth Saihib. He also said that Guru Nanak Dev worked for the uplift of the downtrodden and was against female infanticide and the Sati system. He promoted widow re-marriage during and was vocal about the equal treatment of women in our society.
Fr. Jose Prakash while speaking on Christianity said that Christians believe that God is one and they also believe in trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The programme ended with open house discussion in which students cleared their doubts related to various religions that we follow in India.
