BHOPAL : The Executive Director (ED) of the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development Madhya Pradesh (CEDMAP), Jitendra Tiwari has claimed that the raids by Special Establishment Police of Lokayukta were illegal. Challenging the jurisdiction of Special Establishment Police of Lokayukta, Tiwari claimed that CEDMAP was a non-governmental institution, whose ED does not come under the category of a public servant. Tiwari said CEDMAP works like an NGO and has been constituted under the Societies Act.
Lokayukta SP Virendra Singh said Tiwari was trying to save himself by creating confusion. He said CEDMAP was launched with government funds. Government gives training assignments to CEDMAP.
The website of CEDMAP says that it is a government ‘undertaking. Singh said Tiwari had got ‘MP Government (U/T)’ written on the number of his vehicle. “He is lying to save himself”, Singh said. As far as his properties are concerned, Tiwari maintains that he had bought the house at Arera Colony in 2003. He also claimed that if his worth of his property has been assessed as Rs 2.5 crore, he is ready to sell it to Lokayukta at that price. Singh said the probe has begun with the raids and everything would come to the fore.
Challenging Lokayukta cost dear to Tiwari
Jitendra Tiwari has paid the price for challenging Lokayukta. The Lokayukta office had received complaints against regarding claiming fake TA/DA bills and making foreign trips. The Lokayukta sought details from him. However, in his reply, Tiwari stated that he does not come under the jurisdiction of Lokayukta. A furious Lokayukta hit back by raiding Tiwari’s house and office. Questions were put up in the State Assembly about Tiwari but the government replied that as CEDMAP was a private institution, no reply could be given.
