Tikamgarh: 8 die, 10 hurt as jeep collides with truck

Bodies dumped in trolley

BHOPAL : In a display of extreme callousness, the bodies of eight persons, who were killed in a road accident, were dumped in a tractor trolley in Tikamgarh on Friday. In addition to eight deaths, ten were also others injured when the ‘Toofan’ jeep they were travelling in, collided with a truck on Jhansi-Tikamgarh road near Barmataal village under Digora police station in Tikamgarh district in the wee hours on Friday. The injured, including two women, were admitted to the district hospital. It hurts the sentiments when bodies were dumped in trolley instead of making of arrangement of proper bodies carrying van.

One of the injured has been referred to Jhansi Medical College.  The Toofan jeep bearing registration number MP-36-T-1034, which was laden with newspapers, collided with the truck bearing registration number MP-07-HB-0138.

SHO (Digora) Wahid Khan said, “The incident took place in the early hours when the jeep heading towards Tikamgarh rammed into the truck. There were 18 passengers in the jeep, including the driver. The deceased have been identified as jeep driver Kishan Pal Singh alias Raju (22), Prakash Rai (22), Prakash Vanskar (23), Hari (24), Kallu Joshi (31), Bhagchand (36), Gulab (18) and Ramcharan (25).

ASP Rakesh Khakha said, “All the passengers were returning from Delhi by train and had got down at Jhansi. They had boarded the jeep to reach their destinations.
