BHOPAL : The Forest department has decided to use the services of its retired and experienced officials to devise a strategy for dealing with the tigers making regular forays into Kailasot and Kerwan areas. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Narendra Kumar will preside over the meeting, scheduled for Saturday, which will also be attended by wildlife experts.
Meanwhile, a tiger was again spotted in Kaliasot on Friday morning. The district administration has stopped movement of people in the area from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am by imposing prohibitory orders under section 144 of the CrPC. However, ambulances and police and government vehicles are allowed to enter the restricted area.
National Green Tribunal (NGT) had recently instructed to check the movement of people in Kaliasot and Kerwan areas, which are being frequented by the tigers. Students of educational institutions located in the area have been told to carry their identity cards with them. Forest department is maintaining vigil on the movement of tigers. Elephants are being used for monitoring.
PCCF Narendra Kumar, while talking to Free Press, said, “We are going to have a meeting with senior officials of forest department and retired and well experienced wildlife experts to deal with the issue. The first option is to push back the tiger into Ratapani sanctuary and if it that is not possible, then we will explore other options like shifting it to Panna. First we are trying to trace the tiger. We are using elephants for locating them.”
