BHOPAL : Tiger T1, stalking the Kerwan region, attacked a cow near the Lake City University on Tuesday. Earlier, the Big Cat was seen only on the outskirts of the forest but now it is moving around the dam. On Monday morning, a guard saw the tiger perched on the dam. He immediately closed the entrance gate and informed the forest officials.
The forest department has restricted entry into the forest and recreational areas. But as soon as the news of tiger being spotted at the Dam spread, a large number of people gathered at the spot.
Jitendra Gupta, Ranger, Forest Department said that they can’t stop the tiger from roaming but the people should realise that the tiger can get aggressive anytime as it has already started attacking cattle.
He also informed that they can only track the movement of the tiger they do not have the authority for using tranquiliser guns to make the tiger unconscious if it gets aggressive. “We can’t do anything until we get orders from the department. The tiger is getting aggressive by the day and in spite of regular warnings, people are visiting the dam. We can only keep them out of dam region but we cannot stop them from moving on the roads around the University”, said Jitendra Gupta.
Forest department has only issued a warning to stay away from the Kerwan-Kaliasot region but it has no action plan ready if the carnivore turns aggressive. The Department has also failed to keep the tourists at bay, even after prohibiting tourists from entering the forest area.
