Thug cheats school director in bank

BHOPAL : A 65-year-old man was conned by a thug of Rs 3,500 inside the Indian Bank Branch at 80 Feet Road, Ashoka Garden, in presence of a number of people on Friday afternoon around. The complainant who has retired from government job and currently working as the director of a school had gone to withdraw money from the bank. The accused was captured in the CCTV camera installed in the bank. The Ashoka Garden police following the complaint registered a complaint on charges of theft and started investigations.

Investigation officer SI CS Parashar said complainant Mohammed Siddiqui, 65, son of Yakub Ahmed Siddiqui, resident of Ashoka Vihar Colony, has retired from government job and he is now working as the director of St Maria School in Ashoka Vihar Colony. In his complaint to the police he stated that he had gone to Indian Bank’s branch at 80 Feet Road, Ashoka Garden on Friday afternoon around 12.15pm and withdrew Rs 13,000. He took the money from the cashier which was in a denomination of Rs 500 currency notes, and started counting them. While he was counting the accused approached him and saying that he does not know how to count currency took the notes from his hand and started counting them. Siddiqui objected and took back the currency notes from him. The conmen left the spot. When Siddiqui recounted the currency notes he found that seven notes worth Rs 3,500 were less. He approached the cashier. Cashier checked his balance and said that he gave him the right amount. Then Siddhiqui along with cashier reached the Branch Manager’s room. Here when they checked the CCTV footage of the camera installed over the cashiers’ counter the conmen was seen keeping the money in his pocket and leaving the bank after conversation with Siddiqui.

Siddiqui later reached Ashoka Garden police station and filed a complaint.

Police following his complaint registered a case under section 379 of the IPC and launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
