BHOPAL : Four members of Babli dacoit gang, which is active in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, were injured in an encounter with police at Bandhavgarh National Park, Umaria district on Sunday. All three injured dacoits have been arrested while others managed to flee in injured condition.
They, reportedly, had taken the contract to eliminate ex-MLA of Mahiar, Narain Tripathi. However, police said that it has not been established so far. It will be cleared after interrogation of the arrested dacoits and verification.
Those who have been injured include Surya Kumar Shukla, Virendra Pandey and Tabbu alias Indresh Shukla. Two policemen Rakesh Pandey and Raghvendra have also sustained injuries. Both are constables. The injured have been referred to Jabalpur and some of them have been admitted to Umaria district hospital.
Satna Police had informed about the Babli gang members activities and planning. Shahdol, Umaria and Satna police launched a joint operation for encounter.
IG (Shahdol range) K Babu Rao, talking to Free Press, said, “Satna police had given information about Babli gang dacoits.
We launched a joint operation with Umaria and Satna police and four dacoits have been injured. Three of them have been arrested and one managed to flee. Those who are injured include Surya Kumar Shukla, Virendra Pandey and Tabbu alias Indresh Shukla. Two policemen have also been injured.”
