Burhanpur : Three children of the district drowned in a pond while taking bath on Monday morning. The villagers fished out their bodies and created chaos in the village.
The deceased were identified as Sohel Khan, Sayed Amir and Badal Khan. All were the residents of Bail Mohalla and were around 8-years old.
Villagers alleged that behind the cotton mill in Bahadpur, on the land of revenue, a deep pothole was made due to the illegal mining and in rain, this got filled up by the water where children went to play. On Monday, around five children went there to play in the pond out of which three drowned. Other children started shouting for help, after which some villagers reached there but they only managed to take out their bodies.
As this news spread in the town, the agitated villagers created chaos and started pelting stones on the house of Sarpanch. They also damaged the cars and motorcycle of the Sarpanch. Police reached the spot and tried to pacify the situation but in vain.
Police have registered the case against unidentified miscreants and started the investigation.
