BHOPAL: The Hanumanganj police, on Wednesday, busted a gang of bike lifters and recovered 12 bikes, said to be worth around Rs 6 lakh, from their possession. The three accused are of the 20-25 years age-group and used to lift and ride new bikes to make an impression.

SP Arvind Saxena said that they belonged to Sharda Nagar in Narialkheda area. They lifted the vehicles just to drive different new bikes. The accused have confessed to having stolen 12 bikes, out of which four were lifted from Hanumanganj police station area and eight from other police station areas. Four vehicles were recovered from their possession while eight were recovered on their information from different paid parking slots. The accused fell into the police net on a tip off from an informer. The Hanumanganj police had got a tip off from an informer that three youths were trying to sell a bike at a throwaway price in the Kabadkhana area.

The youth looked suspicious. Acting on the tip off, police raided the spot, nabbed them and recovered a bike from their possession. The accused were identified as Anup Malviya, 23, son of Dev Singh, Mohammed Shariq, 20, son of Bashir Khan and Salman, 20, son of Kallu Khan, all residents of Sharda Nagar Narialkheda. The accused were further quizzed by the police to find out whether they were involved in other crimes.
