Teenager hit by bus while crossing BRTS corridor

BHOPAL : A teenage boy sustained grievous injuries after being hit by a speeding low-floor bus while he was crossing BRTS corridor near Polytechnic Square under Shamla Hills police station on Wednesday evening.

In the aftermath of incident, the injured boy was rushed to Hamidia Hospital by the police while registered a case under sections 279 and 337 of the IPC against accused driver who fled from the spot leaving the bus which was seized by the police.

Police said that the injured youth was identified as Ajay, 18, son of Baburao Wankhede, who resides at Aradhna Nagar in Kamla Nagar area and was doing a private job.

Police further said that the incident took place at around 4:30pm while the victim was crossing BRTS corridor and in the meantime a speeding TR-1 low-floor bus bearing registration number MP 04 CA 0998 came from Kamla Park.

In the mishap, the youth sustained injuries in his hands and legs and was undergoing treatment at Hamidia Hospital. Subsequently, the police have booked the absconding driver while the bus was seized by the police.
