BHOPAL : A teenage girl, who was referred from Ashok Nagar, died due to non-availability of medical facilities in Hamidia Hospital on April 16. She had high fever and profuse bleeding. On the hand, the Junior Doctor Association (JUDA) is adamant on indefinite strike demanding proper security.
JUDA continued its indefinite strike paralysing the medical services in Hamidia Hospital for the second consecutive day. Junior doctors are on strike demanding proper security for them in the hospital during duty hours. Intermittent night of April 14-April 15, junior doctors had a clash with relatives of a patient who had come for treatment of his own fracture. In the clash, two doctors were injured.
However, JUDA has claimed that alternative OPD was being run for the convenient of the patients. But patients had to face problems due to strike for those (outsiders) who have been referred to Hamidia Hospital as when they know it is very difficult for them to shift the patients to other hospitals. Private hospital’s medical services happen to be costly affairs for them so such strike enhanced problems for the outsiders, relatives of the patient added.
JUDA general secretary Dr Tanmay Shah, talking to Free Press, said, “We have put our demands before college management for proper security for the junior doctors during duty hours. Manhandling of doctors has become a regular practice so it is matter of concerned. We have started alternative OPD for the convenient of patients so as such there is no problem for the patients.”
