Khandwa : The Jal Satyagraha continued for the 25th day as the health officers were seen keeping a watch on the health of Satyagrahis, which has been deteriorating constantly. Healths of more than 2 dozen people have deteriorated, since the movement started, but they are not ready to budge.
The administration on the other hand has consolidated information with regards to lands which are available in the govt land-bank and are situated on the banks of river Narmada in other districts.
People who have been displaced because of Omkareshwar Dam project might be given a choice to take lands on the banks of Narmada in Narsinghpur district. A representative group of 8 to 10 farmers would go to see the lands which have been shortlisted by the government.
A group of 9 farmers went along two NHDC farmers to see the piece of land in Narsinghpur.
Danger of epidemic
Many skin disease specialists have suspected infectious diseases spreading around the region as skin of many protestors have worn off and are prone to such problems. They said that the skin diseases could also prove fatal if not cured on time.
Local admn turns soft
It is also seen that the local administration has taken a soft stance against the protest of Jal Satyagraha. SDM of Punasa and Revenue officer on Tuesday reached Ghogalgaon and placed a proposal of 9000 acre land in front of the protestors, from which they can choose any piece of land they want. The officers however have rejected the demand of lowering the water level of Narmada at Omkareshwar Dam.
Joint Collector SS Baghel, Deputy Collector Rakhi and Patnekar of NHDC were present on the occasion. Alok Agrawal, who is related to Narmada Bachao Andolan said that the Jal Satyagrah would continue, and they would not budge in front of the government. People still are standing in Narmada waters and are waiting for government to reduce the water levels.
