Sudden disruption of water supply in peak summer inconveniences people

BHOPAL: Disruption in power supply to Kolar water project and repairing work in Narmada water supply network left many colonies thirsty on Tuesday. People came to know that they won’t be getting water on Tuesday when they went through the day’s newspapers and watched local TV channels. By then, it was too late.

The sudden announcement of water supply disruption left people high and dry. Only a few could make alternative arrangements. What made the things more difficult was that the need for water goes up substantially in the summer season.  Many had to buy water tankers from private suppliers at an inflated price.

Because of power supply disruption in MACT and Mandideep feeders in Kolar water supply, colonies which were affected included Arera Colony,  Shahpura, 1100 Quarters, Shivaji Nagar, MP Nagar, Bal Vihar, PGBT College, Qaji Camp, Congress Nagar, Chandbad, Ginnauri, Moti Masjid, Badal Mahal, Shashtri Nagar, Jawahar Chowk, Nehru Nagar, Kotara Sultanabad.
Similarly, water supply was disrupted because of ongoing maintenance in Narmada water supply.

The colonies which were affected include Indrapuri, Sonagiri, Ratnagiri, Press Complex, Gautam Nagar, Kasturba Nagar, Rachna Nagar, Panchwati, Saket, Shakti Nagar, Ashoka Garden, Navin Nagar, Dilkusa Bagh, Antyodaya Nagar, Subhash Nagar, Shahansha Garden, Chandbad, Damkheda, gas victims’ colonies.
