BHOPAL : The ‘picture perfect’ victory of the Congress candidate Vivek Tankha in Rajya Sabha election is not going to be that much perfect, as one of the Congress MLA is in hospital and one of the BSP MLA is the relative of BJP minister.

The Congress has convened the meeting of all Congress MLAs at the PCC office on Monday evening. AICC general secretary and in-charge of MP, Mohan Prakash, former minister Kamalnath, former chief minister Digvijay Singh, former minister Kantilal Buria, former minister Suresh Pachori, PCC president Arun Yadav, deputy leader of opposition Bala Bacchan and other senior leaders will participate in the meeting.

The stalwart office-bearers may be asked to hold one-to-one meeting with their supported MLAs.

RS candidate Tankha will also meet every MLA personally and ask them to support him.

While talking to Free Press Tankha said, “The party has come forward unitedly as it is the party which is contesting the election, not me.”

BSP MLA Balbeer Singh Dandotiya, who is a relative of the health minister told Free Press, “It doesn’t matter that I am a relative of minister Narottam Mishra, Behanji (Mayawati) is my party president and I will go with the party decision”.

The Congress MLA from Sironj, Govardhan Upadhaya is undergoing treatment in Indore. The BSP has already made the way easy for the Congress, to elect Vivek Tankha in RS. The Congress needs 58 votes to get its candidate elected the RS. Earlier, the party was just short of one vote to get hassle free to entry its candidate in RS. The Congress is having 57 votes and the BSP’s four votes have increased the voting power to 61 votes. The polling for the RS is scheduled on 11th of June.

MLAs to pave way for Gotia

BHOPAL : The Bharatiya Janata Party leaders will start rubbing their shoulders in support of independent candidate Vinod Gotia for the Rajya Sabha election as the chief minister will return to the state capital from Coimbatore on Monday evening.

Independent candidate Vinod Gotia is backed by the BJP votes to enter Rajya Sabha. The party has 50 votes against the target of 58 votes for him to win the election.

Whereas it is claimed that the three Independent MLAs will be going to support the BJP candidate in polling, reaching the figure to 53, still five votes will be short to win the election.

It is also claimed that some of the Congress and BSP MLAs are also in connection with the BJP office-bearers. It is being assumed that on June 8 or 9 the CM will take a meeting of the BJP MLAs eyeing the scheduled RS elections.  The party has started preparations for the election, the ministers have already been instructed to keep in touch with the independent MLAs and the Congress MLAs of their respective areas, to vote in favour of BJP supported independent candidate Vinod Gotia.
