BHOPAL : Mining baron Sudhir Sharma, who surrendered on Friday after remaining absconding for a long time. According to sources, during this period, Sharma spent most of his time in Indore, Delhi and Mumbai and visited Bhopal too. It was said that he went to foreign countries during this period but he denied this to the STF and said that he was in the country.
Sharma’s surrender in the district court and after that being sent into custody stirred the political environment. He enjoys close proximity and cordial relations with many senior leaders of the BJP, RSS and the Congress. He also had very close contacts with some people active in the field of social service and with many bureaucrats who were apprehensive of his arrest. The leaders of the BJP are mum over the arrest of Sharma.
He was a protégé of a senior RSS leader apart from former minister Laxmikant Sharma. Sources say that these leaders are keeping a close eye on each event after his arrest.
He was very close to a former union minister of the Congress. The leaders who maintained close relations with him fear that his arrest might create problems for them.
Sudhir Sharma’s surrender is a conspiracy: Cong
The opposition Congress described BJP leader Sudhir Sharma’s surrender as ‘conspiracy’ of the BJP, RSS and chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan to bury the case and save other accused. PCC president Arun Yadav said it is surprise that state police and STF both could not arrest mining mafia Sudhir Sharma in last eight months and he turned at local court. His surrender is a planned strategy as he had relations with BJP leaders, RSS persons and government officials.
Referring a memorandum of Dr Pankaj Trivedi, Yadav said the STF did not arrest RSS man Suresh Soni even and not summon him for interrogation despite his name figured in the investigation papers.
