BHOPAL : Bhopal popularly known as the city of lakes was the hottest city in the state with the maximum temperature during the day soaring to 43.3°C on Sunday. It was followed by Indore which was a few notches behind with maximum temperature of 42.8°C.
It was really a “Sun”day in true sense for the citizens of the state capital as mercury soared paralyzing the normal life. People preferred to remain indoors while roads and prominent markets which usually remained crowded all the time wore a deserted look in the afternoon. Heat wave like condition prevailed in the entire city. The intense heat was palpable just after 9am. People ventured out after wrapping their face and taking all precaution for protection from heat wave and sun stroke. As it was the hottest day of the current summer season in the state capital, the discomfort level was at its peak. It was little relief for the people that it was a Sunday so offices were closed and it was weekly off for many.
Bhopal recorded a maximum temperature of 43.3°C which was 2°C above normal while it recorded a minimum temperature of 26.2°C which was normal. On Saturday, temperature during the day was 41.4 °C.
The state’s commercial hub, Indore recorded the maximum temperature of 42.8°C which was 2°C above normal while it recorded a minimum temperature of 26.6°C which was also 2°C above normal. The hill station Pachmarhi recorded a maximum temperature of 38.0°C which was 3°C above normal while it recorded a minimum temperature of 24°C which was 1°C above normal.
As per the weatherman, Bhopal was the hottest city in the state on Sunday. There are chances of heat wave like condition in Ujjain division. In Bhopal, there will be a partly cloudy weather for the next 24 hours. However, eastern part of the state experienced rain while other parts bore the brunt of summer.
