BHOPAL : The first day of the monsoon session of the State Assembly witnessed a bitter clash between the Leader of Opposition Satyadev Katare and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narottam Mishra on the issue of paying tributes to the Vyapam dead. The House was adjourned amidst mayhem.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan paid tributes to the members of House, who had passed away since the last session. However, Katare after paying tributes to people whose names were listed in the agenda also paid tributes to TV journalist Akshay Singh. When Katare started reading the names of persons linked with the Vyapam scam who had died, Mishra took strong exception and said tributes can be paid only to those persons whose names are on the agenda. Mishra said Katare was digressing from the accepted traditions. Opposition MLAs Ramnivas Rawat and Jeetu Patwari too demanded to pay tributes to the Vyapam dead. Chauhan while paying tribute made a mistake when he referred to Ghufran-e-Azam as a hockey player. In fact, former Union Minister Aslam Sher Khan was a hockey player.
