Indore :  During PM Narendra Modi’s visit on Thursday, Union minister for minerals, labour and steel Narendra Singh Tomar and Thawar Chand Gelhot, Union minister for social justice along with a number of ministers of the state government sat in audience in the front rows while four senior IAS officers, chief secretary, industry secretary, secretary to the CM and one other sat on the dais. After Modi left, these ministers were asked to come to the dais but Tomar and Gelhot refused, with disappointment visible on their faces. Requests by Yashodhara Scinda and entourage of the chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan failed to pacify the senior politicians but when Chouhan made a personal appeal, they went to the dais.

After finishing his speech, Modi made an unusual request on the stage itself. He asked chief minister Chouhan to ignore the protocol and not come to the airport to see him off, but rather be with the investors. Chouhan, however, designated Scindia for this purpose, which was also politely refused by Modi and in the end, Modi left for airport with Kailash Vijayvergiya and couple of senior BJP leaders.

Despite chief minister Chouhan’s announcement during a press conference prior to starting of the GIS that the Birla group would be present at the summit, no representative from this group made an appearance.

The food arrangements collapsed on day two of the summit. Barring the arrangements for VIPs at VIP Lawn, the food arrangements for guests down stairs went out of gear, and many of them were hungry. The guests had to make do with snacks from various stalls located within the venue. The arrangements collapsed as employees, security personnel and other staff member ate the food and left nothing for the guests. The Delhi-based catering company expressed its inability to serve guests and locked the dining hall by 2.45 pm.

In his speech the PM began listing the state’s achievements and half way he realised that the crowd was not so interested, he said that nothing was written and added that whatever he had mentioned were facts which he was well aware of. The audience gave a huge applause.

During the traditional lamp lighting, Ganesh Slokas and sounding of the Shankhwent on continuously.

ADAG Chairman Anil Ambani took his seat on the dais when PM Modi was halfway through his speech. He had gone to Mahankal and was delayed on his return.

When the PM entered the venue, the entire audience stood up and applauded him by shouting Modi, Modi, Modi …
