BHOPAL: Congress party workers took out march towards Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s residence in protest against increase in margin money to be paid by slum-dwellers for pucca houses under JNNURM project. They were cane-charged by police.
Led by district Congress Committee president PC Sharma, several party workers took out march from Roshanpura Square. They said BMC and BDA issued notices to slum dwellers to pay Rs 12,000 and Rs 17,000 as margin money respectively for pucca houses as their cost had increased. Sharma said the cost was increased because of delay in construction works. The slum residents were told earlier to pay Rs 65,000 in small instalments for houses and that too without interest.
