Six-member gang out to loot petrol pump falls into police net

BHOPAL : The Nishatpura police, on Tuesday, nabbed five persons, while they were planning to commit loot at Urja Petrol Pump in Karond on Monday night on a tip-off from one of their accomplices, who was arrested in the morning. All the six nabbed persons are hardcore criminals and have been involved in more than a dozen cases of loot and burglary.

Police have recovered stolen goods worth more than Rs 1.75 lakh from their possession along with two country-made guns, four live cartridges and a huge cache of sharp-edged weapons.

SSP Raman Singh Sikarwar said that the arrested accused had divided the city into three regions, in which they were running separate pickpocket gangs. The accused have confessed to employing around 25 active members in the gang of age group 18-25 years. The accused took 35 per cent commission from them.

SP North Arvind Saxena said that the Nishatpura police, during investigations into the incident of loot with engineer Sarvesh Dwivedi at Assi Feet Road on June 26, was picking up suspects of the area on the basis of the details given by the victim. Aslam, 22, son of Ashraf, resident of Karim Baksh Colony, within the limits of Gautam Nagar Police Station, currently residing in Ganjbasoda, Vidisha, was picked up from Panna Nagar near the railway track on Monday morning in this connection. On frisking, police found a country-made gun along with two live cartridges on his person.

During interrogation, Aslam revealed that he and five of his accomplices had planned to commit loot at Urja Petrol Pump near Karond. He revealed the place where all of them were to meet in the evening. Police raided the spot and nabbed the five others including Annu alias Anwar, son of Chhote Khan, resident of Ashoka Garden, Akbar alias Baacha, son of Pyare Khan, resident of Qazi Camp, Irfan alias Chhotu, son of Abdul, resident of Nawab Colony, Rakesh alias Takkan, son of Kamal Singh Chouhan, resident of Housing Board Colony and Asghar alias Assu, son of Anwar, resident of Annu Nagar. Aslam confessed to having supplied the guns and sharp-edged weapons to them.

He also confessed to having looted Dwivedi and revealed that he had mortgaged the chain at Mannapuram Finance for Rs 15,000.
