BHOPAL: Six bookies were arrested by the Jehanirabad Police on charges of betting during the IPL cricket matches in a house located at Yadavpura on Wednesday.

According to Jehangirabad police, the accused were nabbed on Tuesday night from a house located in Yadavpura area when they were betting online on the IPL match.

Police also seized electronic equipments including a laptop, five mobile phones, a TV, Rs 15,000 cash and betting slips worth lakhs of rupees from their possession.

The arrested three accused were identified as Golu, Balwant, Deepak, Hemant, Vishal and Harsh.

The team of Jehangirabad police led by inspector Preetam Singh Thakur raided the house no 220, on the basis of tip-off, when the bookies were betting.

A case has been registered under provisions of sections 13, 3 and 67 of the Gambling Act. All the arrested six accused were today produced in court and were remanded to one day police custody, TI Thakur said.

Earlier on Tuesday, Nishatpura police had also arrested three persons-Vineet Jain, Sanjay Yadav and Karan red-handed from a house located behind People’s Mall when they were betting on an IPL match in progress. FPNS
