BHOPAL : The launch of investigations by the Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) into the Vyapam scam three days ago has already started showing effect. The CBI officials are not only meeting officials of the STF and Police SITs but they are also holding confidential meetings with the HC-appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT).

According to sources, CBI had begun its probe on the basis of inputs provided by the SIT. The SIT has also told the CBI about the lacunae in STF probe. SIT also gave information to CBI about the instructions given by it to STF, which were not followed by the latter. SIT considers the death of Namrata Damor and Vijay Singh Patel as suspicious. The SIT had asked STF to make exhaustive investigations into these deaths but STF did not probe Damor’s death, terming it as a happening prior to the scam while in case of Patel’s death, it had written to Kanker police for probe.

CBI has started its investigation into deaths with those of journalists Akshay Singh, Rajendra Arya and Deepak Verma. SIT has also informed CBI about the high-profile people, on which STF was trying to avoid taking action.

The probe has been started on the basis of confidential report of SIT to CBI. This may create problems for STF officials in the times to come.
