SIM, memory cards, Pen drives may throw up new clues

BHOPAL : The Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI), after conducting raids at 40 places in state and Uttar Pradesh in connection with the Vyapam scam, is now hoping to find new facts from the material seized by it. CBI seized old SIM cards, memory cards and mobile phones from the establishments of Vyapam scam accused. It is going to take out details of SIM cards and memory cards to ensure that no accused is spared. CBI is also zeroing in on SMS details to find out the connections of the accused. According to sources, CBI is trying to find out those through whom recommendations came to former Minister Laxmikant Sharma and Sudhir Sharma and the same would be confirmed by call records details and SMS. CBI is also working on finding out about people who were in touch with the relatives of the accused after Vyapam scam was exposed. It is being investigated whether the relatives of the accused have received any big sum of money after the accused went to jail. The kin of the accused were quizzed in this regard.

CBI is also getting bank details of the relatives of the accused.  The quizzing of the relatives of the accused was focused on details of property, cash and their links with people.

CBI has also recovered pen-drives from the houses of accused Pankaj Trivedi, Sudhir Sharma and Sanjeev Saxena and it is trying to find out information about money invested in their businesses. On the basis of documents recovered, the investigators hope to find out where the ill-gotten wealth was invested.

Patrons of accused under scanner

CBI is also keeping an eye on patrons of Vyapam accused. It is being investigated as to who were connected to the accused and who were those who helped them. The call details and SMSs of some influential persons are being taken out for disclosure of their links. The sources in CBI said call details are being taken out of the people who were in contact with the accused and their relatives. They would be quizzed on this basis.

Mahindra’s wife shooed away CBI team

CBI sleuths were shooed away by the wife of accused Nitin Mahindra when the former went to raid Mahindra’s house. Mahindra’s wife told them that five raids have been conducted so far and every time new people come. She said that there is nothing in their house and when nothing is found, the raiders falsely show that something was recovered from their house. Mahindra’s wife asked CBI sleuths to prove their credentials first and then to search their house. CBI officials on being slammed by Mahindra’s wife requested her to allow them to conduct the search and return after completing the formality.
