BHOPAL : More raids can be conducted as the papers are giving more clues in the Rs 26 lakh sapling scam in Sidhi, Rewa. Economic Offences Wing (EOW) raided the offices of the forest department and homes of some officers, including a retired IFS officer, on Friday.
The raid was started from Friday early morning and is still continuing at five places. EOW had the case against then DFO RB Sharma of Sidhi, SDO Om Prakash Singh Baghel, ranger Ramkaran Singh and Ram Kishore Patkar, accountant Raghavsharan Shukla, nursery in-charge Ram Bahore Verma.
In Sidhi district a sapling scam had came to light in 2014. The then DFO had procured saplings worth Rs 12, 55, 000 and had paid the wages of Rs 13 lakh. But, it is alleged that, neither the saplings were procured nor the plantation was done. The saplings were procured from a private nursery.
SP, EOW, Rajesh Dantotia informed that the raid was still underway and the agency was seizing the documents. The raid would continue till the last paper had been seized, he added.
