Shivpuri: Lokayukta arrests tehsildar for taking bribe of Rs 1 lakh from newly elected sarpanch

The action was taken following a complaint of the sarpanch, UmaShankar Lodhi, a resident of Bharshula village.

Shivpuri (Madhya Pradesh): The Lokayukta police arrested a tehsildar for taking a bribe of Rs 1 Lakh from a newly elected sarpanch in Shivpuri district On Tuesday.

The action was taken following a complaint of the sarpanch, UmaShankar Lodhi, a resident of Bharshula village. According to the complainant, the tehsildar, Sudhakar Tiwari, posted in Khaniyadhana tehsil of the district allegedly demanded Rs 1.5 Lakh from Uma to handover the victory certificate.

Following which, Uma lodged a complaint to the lokayukta. The deal was, however, finalised at Rs 1 lakh. Uma reached the residence of tehsildar to handover the money. As soon as he gave the money, the lokayukta team rushed to the spot and caught the tehsildar red handed.

The investigation of Lokayukta team at the residence of tehsildar was going on till the report was filed.
