Garoth: Following the age-old tradition, a fair was organised at the ancient shrine of Shankhodwar on the banks of Chambal river here on Saturday on the occasion of Karthik Purnima.
Despite the fact that a large number of devotees from across the country visits this famous fair which is organised twice in a year, the village panchayat did least to make proper arrangements for the visitors, as there were no kunds set up for the pilgrims to take holy dip in the river on the auspicious occasion. Apart from that, there were no arrangements for drinking water and toilets facilities, smooth flow of traffic and proper roads, adding woes to the visitors.
Several pilgrims complained about the pathetic condition to the fair and pilgrimage development authority chairman Vijay Dube and Garoth legislator Chandrasingh Sisodiya to which they assured to arrange these facilities in the next fair.
