Shah to break bread with sadhus; supping at Dalit home not on agenda

Nervous ministers under exam stress; touring districts in their charge

BHOPAL : During his three-day visit to the city, beginning August 17, BJP chief Amit Shah will have meals with sadhus. Sadhus from all over the country are being invited for this feast to be organised at CM House. Top godmen from different parts of the country may attend the event, where ‘Hindutva’ will top the agenda. This event gains significance against the backdrop of the talk of construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya.

Shah is visiting all the states and MP is the 19th state in his itinerary. In every state he has visited so far, he made it a point to have meals at the home of a dalit or an OBC. But so far, no such programme is scheduled in the capital.

He will also be interacting with artistes and litterateurs of the capital over lunch at the BJP office but care has been taken to ensure that all the invitees are Sangh acolytes.

During his stay, he will also have a meeting with the ministers. This is the only meeting to which members of the core group have not been invited. Only the CM, ministers and Shah will attend it. It is clear that Shah may do some plain talking with the ministers.

The ministers are preparing for the meeting like a bunch of school kids preparing for their examinations. All are busy touring the districts in their charge. They are also collecting as much information as possible about their own departments and the Central schemes being implemented by their departments. They are mugging up all details about the districts in their charge and about the departments they head. The CM’s office has also sought details from several departments. Before Shah’s arrival, the CM may also hold a meeting with the ministers.

Shah travels by regular, not chartered flights

At the meeting held at the BJP office in connection with the preparations for the visit of Shah, state party chief Nandkumar Singh Chouhan said there would be an in-charge for every meeting to review the preparations for it. He said Shah had a different working style. Despite being so busy, he travelled by regular flights. He didn’t use a chartered aircraft. He said Shah would stay at the Circuit House on August 17. On August 18, he will unveil the statue of Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya at Lalghati Square before proceeding towards the BJP office in a procession.
