Shabby condition of playgrounds in Govt schools

Khargone : Although the government has made many schemes for the welfare of the students to develop and enhance their sports skills along with the education, but they all seemed to turn to dust as none of the schemes have been practiced. Many of the schools of district headquarter, does not even have the playground. Only some schools have playgrounds but that too in a dilapidated condition.

There was a time when the playground of the School of excellence was supposed to be the best for all kinds of sports hockey, cricket, football etc. but due to the apathy of the officials, it has also turned in bad shape. Along with the stony road, it has now become the den of drunkards.

It may be noted that the students who have to go to the school, have to passed through this ground where empty bottles of liquor and broken pieces of glass were spread every where. If they wished to play then they have to clean the ground by their own. Same, is the condition of girls’ school, their playground is also not being used for playing. Moreover, there are no proper security measures for the girls.

The in-charge minister of the district Vijay Shah, had given the directions about providing basic amenities to the players of the district to encourage sports, in a meeting of the district planning committee. However, the tall claims of the minister on building infrastructure and providing facilities for the schools belie reality.

“We had sent letters to the education department, drawing the attention towards the shabby condition of the playgrounds and missing facilities, on June 26. We have also made a proposal under which the repair work of the ground, boundary wall and other works are included.”
