BHOPAL: Sant Hirdaram Nagar-based Sewa Sadan eye hospital will remain open from October 30 evening to November 1 without a break.
Adequate medical staff would be present in the emergency ward on the all three nights of diwali festival.
If required, services of an ophthalmologist will also be made available on call during the said period. Last year on the night of Diwali, as many as 19 patients had come for treatment to the hospital. They had sustained injuries in eyes. Treatment was made available to them and their vision was saved.
Medical director of the hospital Dr. Prernapa Upadhyaya said that fireworks should not be avoided at crowded places. Elders should accompany the kids while bursting crackers. They should also keep one or two buckets of water handy. If possible people should wear cotton clothes and wear glasses to protect their eyes.
