BHOPAL : Higher Education Minister Umashankar Gupta, replying to a question of MLA Arif Aqueel in the House on Tuesday, said section 52 may be invoked in Barkatullah University (BU) if needed.
Responding to allegation of Aqueel on state government protecting BU Vice Chancellor Murlidhar Tiwari, Gupta said government has no role in the appointment of Vice Chancellors. Gupta said Governor appoints Vice Chancellor and the current VC of BU was not appointed during BJP government. Gupta said six complaints received against the VC have been sent to Raj Bhawan. Governor is getting investigations done against the VC by retired Justice RS Gohil.
Aqueel claimed that Tiwari had committed irregularities. He claimed that pressure was being mounted from Delhi on the Minister to save the VC.
