BHOPAL : Most of the schools termed the government order that no classes should be held before 10am as “impractical” stating that implementation of such order is not possible as most of the students hire conveyance (buses).

Earlier, confusion prevailed among students, parents regarding timing on Wednesday after government issued an order that no classes should commence before 10am in the state till January 23 due to biting cold. Schools pleaded that order was not delivered in time so they could not implement it.

Ultimately, the government order could not be fully implemented on Wednesday as it was not issued on time. The reason may be technically correct but practical aspects are different. However, most of the schools had already rescheduled their timing by adjusting 30 minutes to 40 minutes with onset of winter and their buses used to pick up students at 7.30am instead of 6.45am.

The orders was implemented only by government schools like Model Higher Secondary School, TT Nagar, Govt Subhash School of Excellence which do not have bus services and students use their own conveyance. So such schools only had to change the timing. Secondly, in those schools which have their own conveyance facilities, students arrived on pre-decided time only to find the gates locked.

Besides, there are many teething problems in implementation of such order. Over 60 per cent private schools hired the buses so they faced the problems as from 6am to 8am, the operators of buses provide services for schools and then onwards, they provide services to colleges.

So it is not possible for such schools to follow government orders.

Some educational institutions hold classes in two shifts in the same building and if school timing is changed from 10am then there would be problem to hold classes of second shift.

As per the teachers at Makhanlal University Bus stop, implementation of the order is not practically possible.

Adjustment of 30 or 40 minutes is feasible and maximum schools have already rescheduled the timing with the onset of winter.

CBSE Sahodya School chairman PS Kalara said, “We have our own conveyance facilities so we do not have any problems and from today we commenced our classes from 10am. I sent SMSs to parents of all children and teachers. But over 60 per cent private schools hire the buses so they will have to face problems as from 6am to 8am, the bus operators provide services to the schools and then they pick up students of various colleges. So it is not possible for such schools to follow such government orders.”

Kalara said, “Secondly, some educational institutes run classes in two shifts in the same building then if timing is changed from 10am then other classes will suffer. So such order is not practical. However, it is only till January 23.”
