BHOPAL : A 15-month-old kid was run over by a school van in front of his mother at Mandakini Colony under Kolar police station area on Tuesday.
The toddler, identified as Adarsh Kohli, son of Alok Kohali, came out of the house without the knowledge of his parents while his elder brother Devansh had to catch school bus. Adarsh’s mother Sonika Kohli had come out of the house to see off her elder son Devansh for Kidzee School, leaving her younger son Adarsh inside the house. In the mean time, Adarsh somehow came out of the house and went on to the road where he was crushed under the front wheel of the school van. As per police sources, on Tuesday morning around 9am Sonika came out of the house to see off her son Devansh. The school van bearing registration number MP04 TA 4907 stopped just in front of the main gate of the house.
Alok Kohli, Adarsh’s father works in Tech Mahindra as a marketing manager. He has moved to the city with his family merely eight days ago. He was in the house, but nobody noticed when Adarsh came out of the main gate and reached in front of the van. There were 7-8 students already sitting in the van along with attendant Maya Joshi.
As Devansh boarded the van the van driver, Sanjay Yadav sped off the van crushing the toddler under the front wheel. The mother of the kid, Sonika screamed after she saw her son being crushed under the wheel of the school van and hearing the scream Alok came out of the house and immediately rushed the severely injured boy to Bansal Hospital in a critical condition by the same school van. However, the doctors on duty in the hospital declared the child brought dead. The Kolar Police reached the hospital after which the body of the toddler was sent for post-mortem examinations.
