BHOPAL : It was a real ‘Sun-day’ for the state capital. The last day of May was the hottest day of the season with the mercury touching 45.4°C mark, 5°C above normal. The minimum temperature was 29.7°C, which was 3°C above normal.
Heat wave continued to sweep through the capital with the entire state reeling under the unrelenting summer heat. Many places including Damoh and Naugaon recorded 46°C. However, Khajurahjo was the hottest place in the state at 46.2°C. There is no respite in sight with the Meteorological department warning that severe heat wave conditions are expected to continue for the next couple of days.
According to meteorological department, dust storm and light showers are likely to occur at isolated places at Hoshangabad, Indore divisions and in Bhopal, Raisen districts. Dust storm and thunder storms are likely in Jabalpur and Shahdol divisions. Heat wave conditions would occur at isolated places over the state except South-West Madhya Pradesh where intense heat wave persists at Hoshangabad, Khargone districts.
