BHOPAL: Taking a ‘break’ from the assigned duties in the pollbound state, over a dozen election observers went on safari to Bandhavgarh National Park on Friday. An RTI activist has approached the Chief Election Commissioner seeking action against the observers who putting aside their assigned duties just ahead of the Assembly polls, went on an excursion accepting the hospitality of the state government.
The election observers who have been deputed in Satna, Umaria and Jabalpur visited the tiger reserve on Friday. Around 19 officials stayed at MP Tourism hotel and enjoyed hospitalities. However, the observers hurriedly left the hotel on Saturday afternoon, when they came to know that the information about their junket has reached the higher ups. RTI Activist Ajay Dubey said that he had lodged a complaint against the said officials with the Election Commission. “EC Ashok Lavasa has taken note on my complaint saying that the matter is being looked into,” said Dubey
