Bhopal: Taking cognizance of the financial irregularities, Economic Offence Wing (EOW) has registered a complaint against Right to Education scheme project coordinator Samar Singh Rathore and others for making payment of Rs 19 crore to private schools of Bhopal under RTE. EOW has started the investigation.
Under the scheme, BPL students are given admission on 25 per cent seats and state government pay school fee of these kids. Project coordinator has sanctioned fund even to those private schools whose annual fee is lower than allocated fund and even those schools which are being run at private buildings or leased land, as such schools are not entitled for the allocations of fund. The probe may reveal more names of schools and department officials.
Interestingly, new types of scams are surfacing in the execution of the RTE with every passing day. Earlier in the state, it was reported that schools had even taken fees from the government against those students who had never studied in their schools.
Earlier, the admissions were given manually and there were no check method to verify the students. Some of the schools had given the admission to the students on papers and claimed fees from the government. Not only this, some schools had given admission to students, whose fee are being paid by the family but even then the schools are also taking the amount from the government. The school education department had already taken action against such schools.
