BHOPAL : A 50-year-old woman was robbed of her gold chain worth Rs 50,000 by two bike-borne miscreants near Patel Nagar under Piplani police station area late on Thursday night. According to the police, Uma Sharma was on her way home after shopping with her daughter Neha, two-bike-borne miscreants waylaid them and escaped with the gold chain from the spot. The victim lodged a complaint with the Piplani police and claimed that she had gone to vegetable market at Piplani and while they were returning around 11.30 pm they were attacked. She claimed that the gold chain was worth Rs 50,000. As their Scooty approached a speed breaker in Patel Nagar and her daughter checked the speed of the vehicle the accused snatched her chain and fled. They fell down from the vehicle due to the shock. Police claimed that the two have not sustained any injuries as the speed was very low but were not able to save them from the robbery. The victims raised an alarm all in vain.
Victim claimed that the pillion rider snatched the gold chain, the two were youths in the age group of 20-25 years but the details of the bike and other details of the youths were not available with the victim due to low light. The police have registered a case under section 392 of the IPC and have started further investigation.
