Khargone : The road construction agency could also be made an accused for substandard construction work during investigation in road accidents cases as work not up to the mark could also be a reason for the accident.
Replying to the queries of school children Superintendent of Police Amit Singh told them during the inauguration of Traffic Week on Monday.
Singh claimed- the Apex Court had issued directives that police will not harass people helping the victims injured in the road accidents. Soon, the town will have IP Cameras linked to the cell phone of the superintendent of police.
As many as 400 persons were killed in road accidents during 2014 in as many as 1243 accidents where four police personnel were also among the victims, Singh added. Police recovered Rs 25 lakh by penalizing traffic violators at various places in the district.
It is noteworthy that SP Singh instead of lighting the lamp himself, asked the school kids to come forward to inaugurate the Traffic Week. The subordinate police officials also had a one to one discussion with students from Sant Jude, Devi Rukmini, Priyadarshini, Utrkisht and various government schools during the program.
The enthusiastic students threw volley of some interesting queries before Singh including if driving under influence of the alcohol is an offence that why not liquor shops be shut? Why police only fine boys during checking drive and spare girls?
The students also apprised Singh that both the traffic signal in the town are out of order for long and absence of traffic policemen there. Singh assured them of getting the traffic signal operational soon and deployment of traffic cops there.
