BHOPAL: There was panic in the Teelajamalpura area after a clash between groups of two communities over reports that a cow was stabbed by a youth belonging to a particular community on Thursday morning.
The incident took place near Teelajamalpura police station and acting swiftly on the information, SP (North) Arvind Saxena and TI Vipin Tiwari, along with other police personnel reached the spot and controlled the situation. However as the news spread, the activists of Bajrang Dal also reached there and asked the shopkeepers to close their shops as a protest of attack on cow. Saxena said the incident took place on Thursday morning when a 21-year-old youth belonging to a particular community went to market along with her mother. In the way, a cow owned by a woman Vimla Yadav started to chase his mother. The woman tried to escape but the cow hit her. Saxena said the angry youth then whipped out a knife and stabbed the cow in her throat. Soon after the incident, the locals gathered at the spot and the situation got worse as the Bajrang Dal activists reached the spot. Subsequently, the accused youth was booked under provisions of Animal Cruelty Act and MP Prohibition of Slaughter of Cow-progeny Act, 2014 and was arrested by the police while heavy police force has been deployed in the area to maintain law and order while the situation was currently under control.
