BHOPAL : After a long gap, the spell of torrential rain lashed the state capital providing much needed relief from humidity and scorching heat on Sunday with the monsoon on its last leg. However, people were caught unaware as since the morning, it was brisk sunny day so people ventured out with families for outing but in the afternoon it rained heavily and even roads were waterlogged.
Besides, the added advantage with rain was that dust which was posing problems to vehicles riders, subsided with the rainy spell. In the ongoing rainy seasons, most of the roads have become dusty as upper layers of bitumen have been washed away by rains. Consistent wearing and tearing of the bitumen layers yield dust.
For the last one week, it was humid weather which had become pretty uncomfortable for the city residents. The rain infused much coolness in atmosphere. However, it rained without any system as such over Madhya Pradesh. It is said to be localised heating effect which is likely to prevail for the next couple of days.
Weatherman has attributed the Sunday rain to local heating effect. As such there is no system prevalent over the state.
Rain and thundershower would occur at isolated place over Ujjain, Hoshangabad, Sheopur Kalan, Sehore, Bhopal, Indore, Khandwa, Balaghat, Seoni, Mandla and Dindori districts.
