Responsive, people-friendly force new DGP’s priority

BHOPAL : The new Director General of MP Police Surendra Singh said to make the police force responsive, people-friendly and accountable was his basic mantra for better policing.

“I would make efforts for making the police force responsive towards public complaints, people friendly and accountable towards society and government,” Singh was talking to media persons after accepting charge from outgoing DGP Nandan Dubey.

Singh avoided direct reply on Vyapam scam, police commissioner system and new police act.

“I am not aware of Vyapam case at present,” the new DGP said. Informing about his priority, Singh said, several visionary works had started in police department and it would be his priority to complete them for better police system. He said MP police had its glorious history and he would try his utmost to maintain it and contribute to it.

On rise in crime rate in MP, the police chief said “If we look at ratio of crimes particular heinous crimes, the figures are not very high.

Singh said, strategy would be made to increase conviction rate especially in the cases where rate is declining because of police investigation He would hold discussion with field officers for qualitative changes in police system.

The police chief denied that there was any communal tension in MP and said police successfully dealt with such incidences and would continue to tackle the situation with taking all sections in to confidence.

Singh said human trafficking is serious problem across the country and special efforts would be made to tackle it.
