Bhopal: The resignation of Nandkumar Singh Chouhan from the post of BJP state president has triggered speculations over his successor. BJP national organisation general secretary Ramlal arrived in the state capital from Delhi on Tuesday night and had a meeting with core-committee. Ramlal in the meeting also gave information about changing of state BJP president.
Meanwhile, most of the party leaders have shelved themselves from the race of state BJP president. National general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya said he would continue to work in Amit Shah’s team. Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar too, separating himself from the race, has conveyed his disinterest to central leadership in becoming state BJP president.
Several ministers, whose names are coming up as contenders, have said that they do not figure in the race. Minister for industries Rajendra Shukla said he is a small worker in the part and could not even think about becoming state president.
According to sources, the new incumbent on the BJP state president may be announced on Wednesday. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is said to be key factor behind replacing of Nandkumar. RSS was not in favour of continuing with him, considering the upcoming Assembly elections. The decision to replace Nandkumar was taken in August, 2017 during state visit of BJP national president Amit Shah. It was chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan who was shielding Nandkumar on various fronts.
