Nagda : The rain waters which have come through the Bagedi river of Nagda and has entered has worked as a lifesaver for the people and for the industrial units based in the town.
The rains in areas such as Khachrod, Nagda and Ratlam has filled Bagedi river with water, which finally led to the dams of Nagda and all the speculations with regards to the scarcity of water have now come to a halt. It might take some time for the Grasim Industries to restart its production to the maxim, but two machines would be ready for operation with the help of water that has accumulated due to the recent rains.
It is to be noted that Grasim had to shut down its operations because of non availability of water in the area. However the waters which have entered the mainstream of Chambal through Bagedi have replenished hopes of the management to start production. Industries and the labourers both are optimistic after the recent rainfalls.
Water of Bagedi has been stocked in the Chambal river on a regular basis and if the reports are to be believed more that 50 mcft water has been stored in the dam as of now.
This is not the first time for Grasim
Scarcity of water in the region had driven Asia’s biggest man made fibre plant on the verge of closure. Similarly drinking water was unavailable to the denizens in the Railway area of Nagda as well in the summers.
And this is not the first time that Grasim had to shut down its plants. The plants had to be shut down for 8 to 10 times in the past 15 years because of scarcity of water in the summer and all the labourers employed with the plant had to be laid off.
