Sehore (Madhya Pradesh): The heavy rainfall on Sunday night washed away the tall claims of the Sehore municipality of making adequate arrangements ahead of monsoon.
The electricity supply also remained disrupted in many areas, while the roads of the main roads of the city were submerged in water. Due to the incessant rainfall, water gushed in many shops and houses in low-lying areas.
At the same time, the heavy rain exposed the maintenance arrangements made by the municipality and electricity department ahead of monsoon in the city. This also saw resentment among the citizens.
Due to the heavy rain on Sunday night in the district, 42 electric poles have been broken, due to which the electricity system was disrupted in many villages including the city, electricity supply could not be restored in some villages on Monday.
It is worth mentioning here that last year the rainy season was below average but this time the monsoon has been active in the district since the beginning of July and it is raining heavily. Due to this, people are hopeful that this time there will be better rains in the district. At the same time, the water level of the water sources here has also increased due to heavy rains.
The district has so far recorded an average rainfall of 358.4 mm. The average rainfall in the same period last year was 265.8 mm. The normal average rainfall of the district in the rainy season is 1148.4 mm.
