Pre-poll bonanza: Madhya Pradesh government hikes DA for its employees and pensioners

Bhopal: Continuing with its pre-poll bonanza, the state government cleared a 2 per cent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees and pensioners. The state cabinet, at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, cleared a proposal to provide an additional 2 per cent DA to government employees and pensioners covered under the Seventh Pay Commission.

The employees of state-run corporations and boards, who are getting salary as per the Sixth Pay Commission, will get a 3 per cent hike in DA, the officer said. The parliamentary affair minister Narrotam Mishra informed in the press briefing that the benefits of the increased DA will be given from January 1, 2018. The decision would also benefit employees and teachers recruited by local bodies, panchayats and the rural development department.

The government have changed appointment norms and now contractual appointments would be made on the posts which entail a year-long recruitment process. The scrutiny committee will be constituted and after its recommendation, the state Cabinet will finalise the appointment.

The appointments will be done in the PSU, boards, corporations, commissions and in university, informed the minister The Cabinet has also decided to give special privileges to Bhariya tribes residing in Chhindawar and Seoni districts. The Cabinet has also amended the act of human organ transplantation and many irrigation schemes have also been sanctioned.

To open the new teaching faculty in the government colleges Rs 8.19 crore had been sanctioned. For the Smart City Mission Rs 1000 crore had been allocated, in the first phase Bhopal, Indore, and Jabalpur cities had been selected. In the second phase Ujjain and Gwalior and in the third phase Sagar and Satna had been selected.
