BHOPAL : Light rain coupled with gusty wind provided much-needed relief from intense heat and humidity to the residents of the city on Thursday evening. Weatherman called it pre-monsoon showers. Throughout the day it was humid atmosphere as temperature continued to increase.
It was isolated rain as humidity content was low in atmosphere.
This year, monsoon is predicted to arrive in time. June 15 is official date for monsoon arrival in state capital.
Day temperature also increased intensifying heat wave like condition. Bhopal recorded a maximum temperature 43.5°C which was 2°C above normal while it recorded a minimum temperature of 30.3°C which was 3°C above normal. On Wednesday, day temperature was 42.6°C. It shows that there one degree Celsius increase in day temperature which enhanced the discomfort level.
Indore recorded a maximum temperature 41.5°C which was 1°C above normal while it recorded a minimum temperature of 26.6°C which was 2°C above normal.
Khajuraho recorded a maximum temperature 45. °C which was 2°C above normal while it recorded a minimum temperature of 30.3°C which was 3°C above normal.
Director Meteorological department Dr Anupam Kashyapi said, ‘These are pre-monsoon isolated showers.
It is just because of low moisture content in atmosphere so it is isolated rain. Such thundery activities will continue with dust storm.”
Heat will continue to rage at isolated places over Chambal, Gwalior, Rewa, Sagar and Shahdol divisions and over Raisen and Shajapur districts in the next 24 hours, he added.
