Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The mysterious death of Dr Richa Pandey has taken a shocking turn after her post-mortem report hinted at suspected poisoning. Dr. Richa, who was found unconscious in her flat at Sky Dream Colony under Shahpura police station on Friday, was declared brought dead at a private hospital.
Police investigations have intensified following allegations of foul play by her family, who have accused her husband, dermatologist Abhijeet Pandey, of being responsible for her death.
During the probe, forensic teams discovered syringes in her room, raising further suspicions. ACP Habibganj Nihit Upadhyay said that the short PM report suggests possible poisoning as the cause of death.
However, a detailed forensic report is awaited to determine the exact circumstances. Police are currently scanning her mobile phone records and will soon record statements from her family members.
Abhijeet Pandey is being interrogated, and his call details, along with other activities, are under scrutiny.
Meanwhile, Dr Richa’s body was handed over to her family on Saturday after autopsy.
The allegations
Dr Richa’s mother, Renu Pandey, has levelled serious allegations against Abhijeet, claiming he had been harassing Richa since their marriage four months ago and was pressuring her for a house as dowry.
She also accused him of frequently staying away from home for days without informing Richa, causing immense distress. Richa’s father, Vinod Chandra Pandey, has demanded strict action against Abhijeet, insisting that his daughter’s death was not natural but a well-planned crime.
