Hoshangabad : A heavy consignment of ganja worth rupees 4 lakh was seized near Hoshangabad’s SPM bridge. Police have arrested two in this regard, while one person has managed to flee.
A person, approached the Maruti van MP04 BA6183, as it stopped was also arrested. The police have registered a case and are interrogating the accused.
When the Ganja was weighed, it was found to be around 66 kilograms, worth Rs 4 lakh. The action had been initiated after a tip off was received from one of its sources by the police.
According to information received from the police officials, the police seized the stopped maruti van numbered MP 04 BA 6183, and arrested the accused when a Ganja trafficker was about to take the consignment from them. The police have arrested accused Dinesh son of Bhagwandas Kuchbandiya, resident of Balaganj Hoshangabad and Jitendra son of Azad resident of Bhopal. One of the accused Ravi Kuchbandiya managed to flee. Police have recovered a number plate less motorcycle belonging to Ravi from the spot. TI Kotwali Police weighed the Ganja on the spot. This is the first occasion when Ganja was weighed on the spot.
According to the police the Ganja was filled in 2 and 2.5 kilogram packets of tea. Rates were being dealt between the buyer and the seller when a source informed the police about the consignment of Ganja.
