Raid residence and other spots, Upmanyu Saxena absconding
BHOPAL : The police have launched a manhunt to arrest suspended police inspector Upmanyu Saxena in the suicide case of assistant professor Indu Sharma. On Tuesday, they raided the residence of Saxena and his kin. Police teams have been constituted to be sent outside the city to find out the whereabouts of Saxena and arrest him.
Additional superintendent of police, Ashutosh Pratap Singh said police teams had been constituted to find out Saxena. Attempts were being made to know his location on the basis of his mobile phone. Singh said Saxena would be arrested and quizzed during remand to know other aspects of the case.
Sources said Saxena was absconding as he feared arrest. Saxena has also switched off his mobile phone but his location is found to be near Jabalpur. Meanwhile, the police on the basis of things recovered from the house of the deceased have concluded that Saxena had relations with the deceased which culminated into the incident. Sources maintain that Saxena may also apply for anticipatory bail.
Used to give threats: Brother
Manoj Sharma, brother of the deceased, claimed in his statements given to the police that Upmanyu Saxena used to exploit his sister by giving threat. Sharma claimed that they severed their ties with Saxena’s family as Saxena had wrong intentions towards her sisters. He said Saxena had terrorised his whole family.
Sources said Sharma also stated that Saxena used to take other persons to her sister’s flat. Saxena’s family members are claiming Indu Sharma responsible for sustaining their relationship. The family members of Sharma in their statements alleged Saxena of torturing and exploiting her.
