BHOPAL : Ayodhya Nagar and Bilkhiriya police in a joint operation on Tuesday busted an illegal gas filling racket operating from Kanhasaiyan village. Seven members of this gang involved in illegally refilling domestic LPG gas cylinders through capsule gas tanker have been arrested.
Police also seized 31 LPG cylinders, two loading vehicles, an electronic weighing machine, refilling parts and filling machines from possession of the accused.
SP (South) Anshuman Singh, interacting with media, said, “The arrested seven accused have been identified as Banvari Verma, a native of Phool Mogra village in Sehore district, Banti alias Jagmohan of Kolar road, Vineet Sharma of Khajuri Kalan in Awadhpuri, Kamlesh, Ravi Lodhi of Kanhasaiyan village, Rahul Sahu from Mandieep in Raisen and Abhishek Pathak of Prem Nagar Colony in Chhola area.”
SP Singh further said that Jagmohan alias Banti was the kingpin of the gang, Rahul and Vineet were partners of Banti while Kamlesh and Abhishek used to bring cylinders of Reliance and Go Gas companies. Ravi is the owner of a Dhaba where refilling work was done and the remaining member of the gang Banwari was given task to make contacts with drivers of gas tankers.
The raid was carried out by a joint team of the Ayodhya Nagar and the Bilkhiriya police following tip-off from informer on Tuesday. The accused used to fill empty gas cylinders from capsule cylinder during the night and sold them as new for Rs 800 each which were later sold to the customers for Rs 1050. All the arrested accused have been booked under section 285 of the IPC and section 3/7 of the Essential Commodities Act.
